Kenner AT-ST Driver Action Figure: Overview

AT-ST Driver Figure front view

The best of these action figures look really smart; however the AT-ST Driver does in many instances suffer from some very prominent areas of deterioration. The usual suspects are of course paint loss to boots and gloves and also fading of the Imperial insignia on the AT-ST Driver's arms. His torso is also quite prone to smoke damage. Something pretty horrible has a habit of happening to his face as well. It does get a fair bit of dirt in there, but the nose and mouth are also very prone to paint loss and because the base coat of paint is the same colour as the AT-ST Driver's helmet this can be very pronounced.

The AT-ST Driver carried one of the small The Return of the Jedi blasters also used for the Endor Leia, Death Star Gunner, B-Wing Pilot and A-Wing Pilot action figures. These are quite rare these days (being so small they were easily lost).

Whilst the Scout walker (AT-ST) was essentially a two-man vehicle, the Kenner toy version of it only had the one seat. This makes it unusual amongst Kenner ships and vehicles as they so often required us to buy two of the same figure to go with our ships. These were usually ESB ships and included the Snowspeeder, Twin-Pod Cloud Car, AT-AT and Rebel Troop Transport. Anyway, the upshot is that you could get away with buying just the one AT-ST Driver back in the 1980s and that would be just fine.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
