The one thing I can't fathom about the black Bespin Security Guard action figure is why Kenner gave him such dainty little hands and feet. The only other vintage action figures I can think of with such small hands are the Princess Leia versions and even then the hands often aren't that dainty. This Kenner Bespin Guard also has his left leg stuck out which makes him more difficult to stand than his white counterpart and also makes him look ever so slightly like he's about to start the Okie-Cokie. All that said, I think one of the attractions of the Kenner line of action figures was that they came with a physique which suggested human frailty; a far cry from the superhero-like features of the later Power of the Force line.
The main area of paint loss on the vintage Bespin Security Guard action figure appears to be on the gold brocade on his tunic. Also, because he was quite difficult to get to stay stood up, if you wanted two Bespin Guards to carry the carbonite block which came with Slave One, you would probably end up using two white guards unless you were very patient indeed.

It was a really good move on Kenner's part to release both a white and a black action figure for the Bespin Security Guard. If you compare this little bit of variety to the Rebel Soldier action figures released for both Hoth and Endor then you quickly realise that our Rebel Alliance troop action figures looked as much like clones as our Imperial Stormtroopers. Our Bespin figures digressed from this trend and gave a more varied feel to Cloud City. Kenner might not have released the wide variety of vehicles and mini-rigs for Bespin that they had for Hoth but at least the action figure guards patrolling it didn't all look exactly the same. In fact, tiny differences between these other figures only really emerged over time as we noticed slightly different paint applications on the Hoth Rebel Solider, or when the dirt that sometimes became ingrained on the Endor Rebel Commandos' faces started to give them a hint of individuality.
The trend continued in the Power of the Jedi figure range where we still got generic army builder Rebel Soliders which were indistinguishable from one another, but we also got two new and very distinctive Bespin Security Guards. We had a very detailed Bespin Guard who came with handcuffs, baton, blaster and removable hat and we also had the ugly one with his long face and bulbous nose (This one came with the brilliant Bespin Carbon Freezing Chamber Playset). All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
