Kenner Bossk Bounty Hunter Action Figure: Overview

Bossk Figure with CAP-2

Bossk was perhaps the most conspicuously intimidating of all the bounty hunters aboard the Executor and he is without a doubt the second coolest bounty hunter after Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back.

The other bounty hunters are mainly background. Who truly cares whether Zuckuss is 4Lom or 4Lom is Zuckuss? They are grey and beige respectively. Bossk with his wolfish dribbliness and bright yellow jump suit looks something akin to a children's TV presenter from a B-movie horror flick. He's just cool, with his over-sized feet and rolled-up trouser legs (presumably on whichever planet he's from he often goes for a paddle in the sea - he left his water wings behind because the other bounty hunters laughed at him I bet). And the 1980s Kenner Bossk figure somehow did justice to this. IG-88 wasn't too far behind but it was Bossk who completed the ensemble and made them a properly motley pack of 'ner-do-wells' who would become infamous with no more screen time that a fleeting glimpse of them on the bridge of Darth Vader's Star Destroyer.

Aside from Boba Fett, Bossk was the only bounty hunter figure from The Empire Strikes Back who had a ship released by Kenner. This was the Captivator or CAP-2 mini-rig with its sucker feet, grabber arms, and rear grabber restraints. It looked rather like something you might expect to find on an Imperial Building site, or perhaps carrying parts to build a Death Star. It certainly didn't look like an inter-planetary spaceship capable of reaching light speed. Little wonder that Bossk never made it to Cloud City.

Presently I only have a reproduction blaster for my Kenner Bossk figure and this is the one shown in the photos.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
