By the time the removable limbs version of the Kenner C-3P0 action figure came out the original 12 back fixed limbs version of the action figure was already often past its best. As soon as the limbs had snapped on the first release Kenner C-3PO you were just never standing him up again. He was wobbly and the help of figure stands or Blue Tack didn't do much to help the situation. The first beloved Kenner C-3PO action figure was just not very durable. He was best suited to sitting down in a Landspeeder and not doing very much. In fact he was perhaps more suited to the Ugnaughts' junk pile than the removable limbs version.

If you look closely at the head of the original vintage fixed-limb C-3PO action figure he looks almost like a hybrid of the movie C-3PO and the Ralph McQuarrie concept C-3PO which makes me wonder whether Kenner actually had access to any of Ralph McQuarrie's C-3PO artwork when designing this toy. It could just be a coincidence I suppose, but when you consider the slight ridge that sits on the split in his skull it is very reminiscent of the Maria robot from the Metropolis movie which McQuarrie used as one of his major influences for the original drawings.
This particular Kenner C-3PO action figure is my original one from childhood and he's quite loose-limbed now and a little beat up. You can see from the close-up photo that this version of C-3PO has a restraining bolt on his left nipple which places him either during the capture by the Jawas or at the Lars Homestead but not really anywhere else within the plot of Episode IV A New Hope.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
