This Kenner removable limbs C-3PO action figure was really very much needed and justified as a variation on the one-piece 1977 C-3PO. Threepio spends half his life suffering from accidental amputations, the significance of which I talk about in my article here. This Bespin figure comes complete with a cargo net for Chewie to carry this unlucky droid around with him; however the C-3PO with removable limbs would be equally at home holding his own leg or arm following the attack by the Sand People / Tusken Raiders in A New Hope, or under assault from Salacious Crumb in Jabba's Palace in The Return of the Jedi. The C-3PO with removable limbs is actually quite a versatile action figure in terms of play value, and you could, of course, also use him in all the innumerable Star Wars scenes where you needed a complete C-3PO figure as well. This was very handy indeed since the 1977 C-3PO figure wasn't that durable and often became loose-limbed and difficult to stand up very quickly indeed.

I don't think it was often that I actually put my C-3PO figure in his cargo net as a child for Chewie to carrie him around in. The net was very prone to stretching and getting Chewbacca to balance and stand up with the extra weight was just never going to happen without a figure stand and figure stands were about as rare as chicken's teeth back in the 1980s.

The paint loss suffered by this C3PO action figure has a rusty patina to it, which actually makes him look a little weather damaged, as you can see in the example below.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
