Kenner Cloud Car Pilot Action Figure: Overview

Kenner Cloud Car Pilot Figure portrait

The colourfulness of the Kenner Cloud Car Pilot figure's outfit reflects that this is a more casual civilian uniform than those of the Rebel Alliance pilots or Imperial troops. The dome helmet is reminiscent of the Star Destroyer Commander figure, but with its bright orange and yellow is quite flash. One can't help suspect that Cloud Car Pilots are show-offs. Perhaps the best way to describe the Kenner Cloud Car Pilot figure would be that he looks a little bit like a Star Destroyer Commander that's dressed up for a night at the disco.

I was never quite sure why the Cloud Car pilot action figure needed a walkie-talkie/ intercom. Surely as a pilot they would firstly need both hands on the controls of their ship and secondly they would have on-board communications.

Kenner Cloud Car Pilot Figure with paint loss

As with the AT-AT Driver and Kenner AT-AT, you needed two Cloud Car Pilots if you were lucky enough to own the Twin Pod Cloud Car. The Empire Strikes Back range of figures started to become quite clever when it came to getting us to buy more. At the moment I just have a couple of the Expanded Universe single cockpit Cloud Cars.

Because the Cloud Car Pilot's uniform had such starkly contrasting colours (orange against yellow and white) it only took a little bit of paint loss to really tarnish the aesthetic.

Both the blaster and communicator shown in the photos are reproduction. I was going to use an original blaster but it rather annoyingly developed a split between the handle and the trigger when I put it in the Cloud Car Pilot figure's hand so I quickly put it back into storage.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
