The vintage Hammerhead as an action figure I think actually outshone the movie character by far. He was so much more than just his outlandish hammer-shaped snout. With his garish blue vest and crazy ostrich feet Hammerhead looked very 1970s and very goofy; almost an antecedent to Jar Jar Binks rather than a villain in a hive of scum and villainy such as the Mos Eisley Cantina Bar. If the Star Wars galaxy had its own version of Sesame Street, Hammerhead would have been a presenter: 'And today younglings we'll be looking at the special word Parsec and counting to four with roman numerals'.

It also has to be said that the thin and veiny Hammerhead action figure looked like he had a very bad case of malnutrition. All the characters starving on Jakku in The Force Awakens look much better fed. With a head that shape though he must really struggle to get food in his mouth.
In A New Hope Hammerhead (now known as Momaw Nadon) has a pale-ish green (rather than brown face) and is much more fully dressed in brown (rather than blue). He looks slightly ashen in an E.T. sort of way. The equivalent Kenner action figure livens him up no end and is much more memorable.
In my opinion, the vintage Hammerhead action figure itself stands as one of the best quality figures that Kenner ever produced and also out-shines a considerable number of Hasbro ones as well. The detail on the veins, the quality of the mould, the vibrancy of the colours and its durability in terms of both not losing paint, nor turning yellow make it stand out as a very high quality collectible indeed.
This said, and to be fair, there are a few faults with the vintage Kenner Hammerhead figure which deserve mention. His ostrich-like feet cross over just a little bit and you can make out the edge of the mould on his arms and legs, and the join in his head does make him look prone to cracking open like a chocolate Easter Egg. Whether you have the side-looking or forward-looking version of Hammerhead though it's still a remarkable vintage action figure for its day.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
