The Kenner Luke Skywalker Hoth Outfit action figure had his binoculars and goggles moulded to him and he carried a rifle borrowed from the Hoth Rebel Commander. He doesn't carry anything like this in the film whilst he's out on patrol with his Tauntaun, but I don't think that ever worried anybody. The rifle itself had a strap which fitted over Luke's shoulder. Many kids seem to have found this strap a bit of an incumbrance when trying to get Luke to hold the rifle in his hand and consequently you come across many of these rifles which have had the plastic strap torn away from the weapon.
The Luke Skywalker Hoth Outfit action figure was alright, but he was nothing special and the Han Hoth Outfit figure had much more flair, to my mind at least.

You can see from the photo that the paint job on Luke's eyes has been much improved since that of the A New Hope Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot, but there are still traces of the round dot teddy bear eyes and the Hoth Rebel Commander figure has much better painted eyes by comparison.
There wasn't really very much that you could do with the Luke Skywalker (Hoth Outfit) figure in the 1980s. He could ride a Tauntaun, get attacked by a Wampa, or be rescued by Han and stuffed inside an open belly Tauntaun but we don't see him in the outfit either hanging around Echo Base or in the ground battle with the AT-ATs (for which we had to use the Luke X-Wing Pilot). I think it's the fact that in The Empire Strikes Back he spends so much time alone on Hoth whilst in this outfit which creates this situation. By contrast, Han and Leia are in the midst of other heroes, droids and background characters on Echo Base so in their incarnation as action figures their play and display value had wider possibilities.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
