Like General Madine, Admiral Akbar and Nien Nunb, the Kenner Prune Face action figure helps flesh out the scene for the Death Star attack briefing aboard Home One. Albeit he's such a background character that I actually forgot to put him in the scene I photographed for this. Based on his pants, he looks slightly like he's hoping to be picked for the Endor assault ground force, and based on the hooded cape we might guess that he's also accustomed to hiding his identity and might serve the role of a Rebel spy. His background story on Wookieepedia suggests that he was actually hoping to lead the Rebel ground force (see: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Orrimaarko/Legends).

As a character and as an action figure Prune Face reflects the fact that by the time of The Return of the Jedi, the war against the Galactic Empire is no longer represented as a particularly human affair, and that the Rebel Alliance is a multi-species band of resistance fighters; something we might have never guessed from Star Wars Episodes IV and V.
Prune Face is one of the few Kenner Rebel action figures to have a blaster or rifle that is unique to him (the other exception being the Endor Rebel Commando rifle) and it is a highly prized accessory these days. It took me ages to get hold of one of these rifles at a reasonable price and when it passed the float test I breathed a big sigh of relief.
As a Star Wars character Prune Face is quite unusual since when most of the characters we encounter lose a body part or parts they are replaced with bionic ones, but Prune Face just has an eye patch to cover his missing eye (the only other character I can think of with an eye patch is Captain Typho who we first meet in The Attack of the Clones, but even Typho's eye patch looks bionic). The shape of Prune Head's skull is also very distinctive in the way it protrudes out to the back (in fact, from the side Prune Face's head looks a bit like a peanut).
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
