Kenner Salacious Crumb (with Jabba the Hutt Playset) Action Figure: Overview

Kenner Salacious Crumb Figure with Bubo

It's hard to know whether to categorise the Salacious Crumb which came with the Jabba The Hutt's Throne Playset as an action figure or not. He has no articulation and he sits as more of an ornament on Jabba's throne which really doesn't allow any scope for action. As a puppet creature in The Return of the Jedi he was one of the most remarkable, expressive and mobile of all the characters in Jabba's Throne Room and the rigidity of the vintage Salacious Crumb (and that of the figures that followed him) unfortunately does no justice to this.

More modern iterations of Salacious Crumb, such as the one that comes with the Power of the Force Amanaman or Oola, likewise suffer from a lack of any articulation. We have to look to the Black Series before we see a Crumb that has play value in his own right. Perhaps the best Salacious Crumb in terms of play value though has to be the 30th Anniversary Collection C-3PO with Salacious Crumb which puts us right in the middle of the action during the Battle over the Pit of Carkoon capturing Crumb's most intensely dramatic moment when he attempts to rip the eyes from C-3PO.

Salacious Crumb's name is one of the many aptronyms amongst the names of Star Wars characters. Whilst his forename suggests that he is a sleazy voyeur, his surname let's us know that he's also pretty inconsequential. His name encapsulates his personality and role with in Jabba's court perfectly. See my article on Ephant Mon and Star Wars Naming Conventions.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
