Getting hold of a complete Vintage Kenner Ugnaught action figure can be quite a task these days as the small white suitcase accessory is getting increasingly rare and expensive. I only have the blue aproned version of the Ugnaught so far and I still have to get my hands on the version of the figure with the purple apron.
We were never meant to be endeared to these diminutive characters with their hog-like snouts and tusks. The Ugnaught's piggish features and aprons fit well with blue collar workers who rummage around in the trash. Ugnaughts are represented as officious and lowly creatures. They are one of Lucas's first characters which fall obviously in to the category of slightly offensive stereotype where our impression of them is delivered through their appearance more than through any innate character attributes.

Since the Ugnaughts' job seems to be to process the junk on Bespin we can't really blame them for putting the remains of C-3PO through the process. No one in the film makes comment on them because Lucas's portrayal of the Ugnaughts does all the work perhaps. I think I'm right that when extra scenes are added in, we don't see them running around the corridors to escape Cloud City with all the humans. 'Abandon ship! Women, children and Ice-cream Maker Guy first. Ugnaughts last'.
Ugnaughts are blue collar workers but they are also the downtrodden undermench of Cloud City. It's all in the name - 'ug' as in the grunt of a Neanderthal and 'naught' as in nothing. The portrayal of the Ugnaught is that of a creature who is worthless and backwards. Lando Calrissian might be looking out for his people when he makes the deal with Vader, but do the Ugnaughts really fit into that category? It appears that Lando runs a mining colony in which there is a distinct underclass of scavengers who are perhaps no less put upon than Rey in The Force Awakens. Bespin, like Jabba's dominion on Tatooine, lies outside of the control of the Empire and in both regions there is a distinct whiff of social injustice. In the fight against the Empire, Lucas is subtly showing us that not everything is so black and white as the struggle between the Jedi and the Sith might suggest.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
