The 1980 Yoda action figure really did come weighed down with a tonne of accessories. The cloth cape, belt, walking stick and snake (orange or brown) were all prone to getting broken or lost and in part that's what's made the vintage Yoda figure quite an expensive item today if you want a complete one.

Once you had the original Yoda figure it was quite difficult to know what to do with him. I didn't have the Dagobah playset as a kid and in the films Yoda only engages with Luke, R2-D2 and to some extent the ghost of Obi-Wan, so when it came to play, Yoda really wasn't a very versatile figure.
Through the more recent series of figures Yoda has proliferated massively and we now have versions with cooking pots, force action, Jedi Council chairs and lightsabers, and then there's Yoda with Kybuck to mention just a few. For anyone to have collected all of them they'd have to be an absolute Yoda fanatic.
When Yoda dies in The Return of the Jedi I wonder whether Luke retrieves his lightsaber. It will be interesting to see whether it makes an appearance in any of the new episodes from the third trilogy.
I have two different variants of the Yoda action figure, one with orange eyes and light skin and one with black eyes and dark skin. Amongst my collection the orange eyed variant is much more common. The black-eyed one came with a brown snake and the orange-eyed one came with an orange snake. Apparently there was also a brown eyed version of Yoda as well. See the Star Wars Action Figure variant guide here.
Using the backpack accessory was a great way of disguising the fact that I don't as yet have a belt for Yoda. I also resorted to using a repro walking stick (gimmer stick) for the photos. I'd forgotten just how fiddly the backpack is to get on Luke's back and it took me several attempts before I succeeded.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
