Nik Sant (Shield Generator) Action Figure: Overview

I don't have Nik Sant's helmet or blaster, but they are perhaps fairly superfluous for this action figure as the main reason to own him to is recreate the Rebel Troop surrender scene outside the Endor Shield Generator. I spent an awfully long time arranging one of these scenes before I got my hands on Nik Sant and I’ve had to recreate it again to include him in the scene.

The character's name being Nik Sant, it makes me wonder as to whether he might have been named at Christmas as a play upon Saint Nick as an alternative name for Santa Claus. Nik Sant does usually have a rather white beard which might explain the Father Christmas allusion. This Legacy Collection action figure has a rather blonder beard than the character in The Return of the Jedi in Rebel Commando fatiques. In fact if you look closely at screen shots from the Return of the Jedi the white bearded Nik Sant in Rebel Commando uniform does not actually appear to be the same person as the guy in Biker Scout disguise who does have a much blonder beard than that associated with Nik Sant. My conclusion as such is that this Rebel soldier in Biker Scout disguise might not actually be Nik Sant but a different Rebel who has been misnamed as an action figure.

There has been speculation that Nik Sant is an aged Captain Rex from the Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels animated series. See Wookieepedia here.

In A New Hope, the theme of Rebels disguised in Imperial uniforms had been key to the plot. Luke and Han are in their Stormtrooper disguises throughout most of the Death Star part of the adventure. We see them put on the outfits, and see them trying to carry off the disguises in several scenarios, and then slowly shedding their Stormtrooper armour during the course of their escape. In The Return of the Jedi however the disguises used on Endor both by Nik Sant (Biker Scout) and Han Solo (AT-ST Driver) are only seen for fleeting moments. They are sotto voce background appearances that are immaterial to the plot rather than an integral part of it. In fact, had neither of these characters appeared in disguise it would have made no difference to our overall experience of the film. It's almost a subliminal wink at the use of similar disguises in A New Hope rather than anything integral to the action.

Other Legacy Collection Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
