This is a nicely dirtied up Original Trilogy Collection Artoo Detoo action figure fresh out of his mishap in the swamp on Dagobah. The electronic scream is meant to respresent his panic as he is jettisoned out of the water. Like the other Original Trilogy Collection Dagobah action figures R2-D2 comes with a fabulous swamp figure stand.
Find R2-D2 (Dagobah) action figure on eBay
Whilst this OTC R2-D2 figure looks great he is definitely more for display than for play and he lacks much of the articulation and gimmickry that we might expect from an R2-D2 action figure released around this time. Artoo has no tripod leg, his head doesn't turn and there are no rollers on his feet to move him along with. Nor does this OTC R2-D2 Dagobah figure come with a tonne of accessories, unlike the 2006 R2-D2 (Battle of Hoth) or the 2005 Droid Attack R2-D2. Nonetheless, this is a unique opportunity to have an R2-D2 figure muddied up for his ordeal in the Dagobah swamp.
This Dagobah R2-D2 figure is a companion peice to the Original Trilogy Collection Yoda, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi Spirit action figures and all three came with matching swamp floor figure stands. I've stuck with using the Kenner Yoda for the banner photo.
Whilst I don't have the 2006 Saga Collection Battle of Hoth R2-D2 action figure, I do have the accessories which came with him and since these are the containers and lamp which we see Yoda pull out of the back of Luke's X-Wing Fighter on Dagobah they are great for displaying with this Dagobah R2-D2. I've also used the crates from the vintage Kenner Dagobah playset.
One of the Saga Collection containers is Luke's lunchbox which Yoda ransacks as part of his subterfuge to make Luke think he is a diminuitive harmless clown and nuisance rather than a revered Jedi Master. The unbecoming scene in which Yoda stuffs his face with Luke's lunch is very in-keeping with the way food, eating and meals are represented throughout the Star Wars movies. On the subject of food and drink in the Star Wars universe see here.
As I've mentioned elsewhere, R2-D2 has met Yoda before (both in the prequel Trilogy and in the Clone Wars series) so presumably Luke is the only one who doesn't know that Yoda is a Jedi Master when he ransacks Luke's equipment out of the back of the X-Wing Fighter.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
