C-3PO Figure (Revenge Of The Sith) - Revenge Of The Sith Collection

C-3PO (Revenge Of The Sith) Action Figure: Overview

C-3PO Figure Revenge of the Sith Collection with Figure Stand

As the guys at Jedi Business astutely point out, this C-3PO figure from The Revenge of the Sith is one of the few times we see an action figure of our favorite neurotic protocol droid which is complete, without any dents or dints or without him being in the process of having his limbs removed or reassembled. This well reflects that in The Revenge of the Sith C-3PO is at his best and doesn't suffer any dismemberments or other physical misfortunes as he does in just about every other Star Wars movie ever released.

There would appear to be just a little irony in the fact that C-3PO is complete and undamaged at a time when Anakin is being taken apart limb from limb and then being burnt down to little more than a torso and a head. The figure stand for this Revenge of the Sith C-3PO figure is a Mustafar one which helps emphasise the point.

This is also much more significant than it at first seems and represents that the entire Galaxy is shifting on its axis at this moment. C-3PO usually follows along the same trajectory as his respective masters and suffers his dismemberments only shortly before his masters suffer misfortune. We first witness this during the attack of the Tusken Raiders in A New Hope (when Luke takes a beating and C-3PO loses an arm). We see it again on Bespin when C-3PO is dismembered shortly before Luke loses his hand and we see it on Geonosis in The Attack of the Clones when C-3PO's head and body are swapped over with the head and body of a Trade Federation Battle Droid shortly before Anakin loses his forearm. Moreover, this switcheroo of C-3PO inscribes upon his body a parallel with Palpatine's galactically significant switcheroo whereby one army is secretly manufactured for the Separatists and another clandestinely cloned and grown for the Senate. Palpatine's machinations to bring the two armies together sparks a galactic conflict in which the role of the 'goodie' (Clone Troopers) and 'baddies' (Separatists) is quickly fated to become transposed, just like part of C-3PO's body is transposed and grafted on to a battle droid and part of a battle droid's body is transposed and grafted on to C-3PO. At this pivotal moment at the start of the Clone Wars the lines start to become blurred. In short, C-3PO's misfortune becomes symbollic of the fate of the entire Star Wars galaxy. Thus, when in The Revenge of the Sith, we see C-3PO gleaming and pristine whilst Anakin is battered, broken and reformed into Darth Vader we see the connection broken as the definition of good and evil and right and wrong is completely re-aligned along a new paradigm.

So, when Anakin is dismembered on Mustafar in The Revenge of the Sith and has turned completely to the Dark Side this link with C-3PO is somehow broken and no misfortune befalls the protocol droid. The link between C-3PO and his master (the chosen one who will restore order to the Galaxy) is then left open to be reformed with Luke Skywalker in the Original Trilogy. It's all rather cleverly done.

For more on how C-3PO's completeness and Anakin's dismemberment represents a turning point in the films. see my articles on The Significance of C3PO in the Star Wars Movies, C-3PO and the Amputation Motif in the Star Wars Films and C-3PO Darth Vaders First Child and the Bespin Reunion.

Other Revenge of the Sith Collection Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
