Princess Leia Boussh Disguise figure Saga Collection thermal detonator

Princess Leia Organa (Boushh Disguise) Action Figure: Overview

Princess Leia Organa (Boushh Disguise) Figure Saga freeing Han Princess Leia Organa (Boushh Disguise) Figure Saga Card Back

The advantage of this Saga Collection Princess Leia (Boussh Disguise) figure over every other Princess Leia in Boussh Disguise figure released to date is that it comes with a thermal detaonator accessory which is not permanently fixed to Princess Leia's hand. This enables the full scope of play and display possibilities from her entry with Chewbacca as her prisoner, to her using the thermal detonator as leverage for bargaining the price of the bounty on Chewbacca, right through to her freeing Han from the Carbon Freeze. By comparison the Kenner Princess Leia in Boussh disguise had no thermal detonator, the Power of the Force and identical Shadows of the Empire Leia in Boushh disguise figures both had thermal detonator's moulded to Leia's hand, as did the 2015 Black Series Princess Leia Organa (Boushh Disguise). To my mind this gives this Saga Collection Boussh disguise figure the edge over all the other iterations.

This is what actually guided my choice in removing this Princess Leia figure from its card back for display, as I'd picked up this as well as The Power of the Force, Shadows of the Empire and Black Series versions of Boussh all carded in a job lot.

The thermal detonator for this Saga Collection Boussh figure is incredibly small so it needs putting with the figure in a sealable figure bag for safety. It's a very precious one-of-a-kind accessory so you don't want to lose it. Boushh's blaster rifle/pike is pretty bendy so some care needs taking with this also. The Boussh helmet is a really terrific mould and also a good fit.

The articulation in Princess Leia (Boussh Disguise) figure's knees is pretty good and enables her to kneel down after she has freed Han from the Carbonite. The pose would have been better with a little ankle articulation but you can't have everything.

Boussh's thermal detonator stunt is echoed in the 2018 Solo: A Star Wars Story in which the young Han Solo uses a thermal detonator for a different ruse but also as a bargaining chip with Lady Proxima. Whereas Princess Leia is in disguise but holding a real thermal detonator, Han's ruse is that he isn't in fact holding a thermal detonator but just a rock and he makes a clicking sound with his mouth to imitate the noise of activating it. In both instances, the thermal detonator is used as a bargaining tool when things aren't quite what they seem. In fact, there are quite a few allusions to Jabba the Hutt's Palace in Solo: A Star Wars Story including the scenario of being thrown to the monster in the pit (in this instance Chewbacca rather than the Rancor.) Lando Calrissian's Skiff Guard Outfit even gets an airing.

Other Saga Collection Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
