This is a very nicely sculpted Saga Collection Sandtrooper action figure and amongst the very best ever released in my opinion. My Sandtrooper figure was originally missing his black pauldron and backpack which I've since picked up in various job lots of Star Wars accessories.
Find Sandtrooper (Escape from Mos Eisley) action figure on eBay
The only way to tell the figure apart from the mould of the 30th Anniversary Stormtroopers seems to be the round black dots on the front of the helmet. On the 30th Anniversary Collection figure these are slightly more subtle.
Exactly the same body mould seems to have been used for the 30th Anniversary Collection Battle of Endor Stormtrooper action figure as it has the same hole in the torso for a backpack to be attached but no backpack included with the figure. This figure has a different helmet and the belt doesn't have the hole present on the Sandtrooper figure; also there is less battle staining which is a more 'greeny' yellow to reflect the Endor terrain.
The Mos Eisley Sandtrooper's sand-weathering reminds me of discoloured vintage Stormtroopers which have suffered nicotine damage. Perhaps this is the logical use for your vintage Stormtroopers which have deteriorated in this way.
Note: I finally managed to get the pauldron which came with a Stormtrooper figure which is identical in every way to this Saga Collection one except that it has clean armour. The helmets come off quite easily so it was straightforward to swop the Sandtrooper's pauldron over. This other Sandtrooper looks to be the Legacy Collection Sandtrooper SL10. Since this other trooper now doesn't have any pauldron I just display him as a regular Imperial Stormtrooper.
The Escape from Mos Eisley Sandtrooper figure also comes with a clip-in backpack (like it's Power of the Force Sandtrooper predecessors). I have a couple of these and my display Sandtrooper is wearing his, but I haven't as yet photograpghed this Saga Collection Sandtrooper actually wearing it. I will get around to this.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
