Padmé Amidala (Arena Escape) Action Figure: Overview

Padme Amidala Figure Geonosian Arena

I'm not exactly sure why this Arena Escape Padmé Amidala figure has been given a naked midriff or why that midriff looks like it belongs to an Olympic athlete.

The articulation pretty much freezes the Padmé figure into a specific moment in The Attack of the Clones Geonosian arena battle, but it's a good dramatic stance for display. The two-part column block accessory which comes with Padmé Amidala also adds a nice bit of Geonosian arena background if you don't have the full Geonosian Arena Playset. These columns come in a couple of different shades, the lighter one belongs to the Obi-Wan Kenobi Acklay Battle figure, whilst the lighter one came packed with this Padmé Arena Escape figure.

Padme fighting Nexxa

The choice of a metal chain for this Arena Escape Padmé Amidala action figure is new. Historically handcuffs and restraints have been made out of plastic and longer restraints, such as that for the vintage Jabba the Hutt Playset have used string as well. The metal chain makes for a more substantial accessory albeit it does have the downside of making Padmé look like a cumbersome keychain.

Padmé's outstretched arm diminishes the versatility of the action figure considerably. It's a memorable pose from the film when she's taking cover in the Geonosian chariot, but it doesn't give her much scope for many of the other actions scenes such as fighting the Nexu and isn't really suited to the totem pole scenes at all even though the figure comes with one of the towers as an accessory. With a little bit of fiddling you can balance the Arena Escape Padmé on top of the tower and because the Nexu (if you have one) has a springy tail he can be balanced vertically to attack her if you lean him on something. This scene only really works for display though when Padmé's firing arm is hidden behind her.

One quirk of this Padmé Amidala (Arena Escape) figure is that there is a very inconspicuous removable blaster holster attached to Padmé's waist. It's so inconspicuous that if you lost it you probably wouldn't even notice or even remember that it was there in the first place. If you have a copy of this Saga Series Padmé figure with the holster still in situ I'd recommend putting it in a figure bag for safe keeping. Noteably, even the copy of the Padmé Amidala (Arena Escape) figure shown on the Jedi Business website is missing it's holster (see here). It's also not uncommon to find loose Padmé Amidala (Arena Escape) figures advertised as being complete on eBay which are missing the holster. Speaking of omissions and errors, Padmé has been photographed here with a Clone Trooper blaster when the figure in fact shipped with a regular Battle Droid blaster. I'll need to take some more photos.

Other Saga Series Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
