The Saga Series Tusken Raider with Tusken Raider Child is much more of a statement piece than an action figure two pack. The figures have almost no articulation and even less character or roundness to them. Taking into account its lack of play or display value I suspect that the set is actually instead meant to help underscore Anakin's ruthlessness and hate as he turns a corner on his journey to the Dark Side as he starts murdering civilians, and the most vulnerable of them.

We don't get many babies in the Star Wars action figure canon. We had the loveable Ewok baby Nippet, and the baby Luke and Leia, but aside from those this is the only other one I can think of unless we include Padawan toddlers in the definition. The inclusion of this action figure set is perhaps meant to contribute towards the humanisation of the Tusken Raiders and to reflect that we are meant to feel empathy for them after Anakin's massacre of them. It establishes the Sand People as a community and a family and more than just mindless killers.
This attempt at generating empathy for the Tusken Raiders only goes so far though since both the mother and her child have full face coverings. Because they are both faceless and anonymous it's hard to muster up as much empathy for them as we otherwise might.
Anakin's massacre of the Tusken Raider women and children nevertheless really helps foreshadow his masacre of Padawan learners at the Jedi Temple in The Revenge of the Sith.
The action figures themselves are rather lacking in articulation, but they do help complete the tribal and family feel of the Tusken Raider camp. The Tusken Raider child has moveable arms but that's it.
The figures were recycled for the 30th Anniversary Collection Bantha Battle Pack.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
