If ever there was a Star Wars character that looks like he has been consigned to the fiery torture of Hell before he's even done anything wrong, then that character is Elis Helrot. Helrot's melted face looks like it belongs in a very bleak Salvador Dali painting and the big black eye sockets are incredibly creepy.
Find Elis Helrot action figure on eBay
The 30th Anniversary Collection Elis Helrot action figure does great justice to the character that we glimpse in A New Hope. Patrons of the Mos Eisley Cantina are meant to be a little unnerving and they are also meant to lurk in the shadows, and if there were awards for lurking I think Helrot would be deserving of one.
One criticism of this Elis Helrot figure is that he suffers from the sort of bandy legs which would usually be associated with the Power of the Force Cantina action figures, albeit the knee articulation does allow him to sit fairly well.
Aside from the Gamorrean Guard and the Ewok Village Princess Leia figures I can't think of any other Star Wars action figure that is wearing sandals. And wearing a scarf with sandals might seem like an odd fashion choice, but I'm sure that Elis Helrot is beyond caring. He came with a Cantina corner bar section and a blue cup (as well as the blaster and scarf accessories). Unfortunately I don't have the blue cup accessory that came with the Elis Helrot action figure.
For a comparably ghoulish action figure see the 2009 Legacy Collection Rum Sleg from The Phantom Menace. I don't own this action figure but he looks for all the world like his space suit de-pressurised a few thousand years ago and his skeleton has been floating around in space ever since.
Elis Helrot's surname is one of many Star Wars aptronyms, since he looks like he's risen from the fiery depths of Hell and he also looks like his face rotting away. See my article on Star Wars naming conventions here.
The only accessory that I'm missing for my 30th Anniversary Elis Helrot figure is his blue cup. I also have a spare scarf and blaster for him which I picked up in a job lot. Helrot comes with a cantina corner bar section which is relatively easy to get hold of, as compared to the straight bar sections.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
