The 30th Anniversary Collection gave us the much needed new Snowspeeder Pilot figure Zev Senesca. The action figure has a beautiful mould with a great head sculpt. This Zev Senesca Snowspeeder Pilot figure doesn’t have any elbow articulation but he has a real presence which really makes up for it despite the fact that without this articulation he is pretty unsuited to being displayed in a Snowspeeder cockpit except perhaps as a rear gunner. Senesca is actually supposed to be a pilot and flew Rogue 2 in The Empire Strikes Back. He's the pilot who discovers Han and Luke in their makeshift Tauntaun tent. You can find his backstory on Wookiepedia here.
Find Zev Senesca action figure on eBay
Unusually this Snowspeeder Pilot has smooth grey boots rather than the padded ones that we more commonly see.
The Zev Senesca figure is a hard guy to track down and one of the reasons for this seems to be the number of times his name gets misspelt as Sev Zenesca. To date Zev Senesca isn't catalogued on the Jedi Business website and he seems to come up fairly infrequently on eBay. The page for the figure on Rebel Scum is also empty at present (see here). A search on Amazon also brought up no results at the time of writing. I did find the odd figure on eBay with just the one carded version which enabled me to see that Zev shipped with a plain black blaster of the Tantive IV style which has been given to a number of Rebel pilot figures (see for instance the Wes Janson figure in the background). Looking at the carded figure Senesca was a Fan's Choice figure like the Saga Series Captain Antilles and Ephant Mon figures. Just to confuse matters as to the series which the Zev Senesca figure belongs to, in diagonal writing just next to the collector's coin are the words 'Saga Legends' which is much more prominent than the 30th Anniversary label on the top left of the card back.
I finally managed to find a Rebel Scum page on Zev Senesca here.
I do have a bit of a problem with Zev Senesca's rescue scene.
The morning search for Han Solo and Luke Skywalker on the ice planet of Hoth could have gone very wrong indeed. When Zev Senesca (Rogue 2) finds Han and Luke he only hears Han say 'good morning' over the communicator, but he still reports back to base that he's found both of them alive. This seems a bit presumptuous since for all Zev knows Luke is Bantha fodder at this stage. Lucky for him that Luke was okay or Senesca would have been in serious trouble. We can't even give him the benefit of the doubt that he picked up signals for multiple life signs, since this could just have meant that Han's Tauntaun had made it through the night. Good luck with dressing up a Tauntaun to look like Luke and taking him back to Echo Base pretending he's okay!
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
