One has to wonder whether every parent in the galaxy is quite so happy when a couple of Jedi turn up at the door telling them that their child is special and that they are going to take him or her off to their temple to train them in the ways of their secretive religion. Surely this can't always be a welcome visit for the parents or for the children. In fact, even if the parents happen to agree you can imagine that a precocious toddler with super powers who doesn't want to be parted from his parents might cause quite a bit of trouble. You have to wonder just how the Jedi pull this off without being maligned throughout the Galaxy.
The only examples we have are a-typical but nonetheless might help shed some light on the subject. Firstly, Shmi Skywalker is willing for her son Anakin to go at least in part because he will have a better life if he's not a slave. This one is easily explained. The next example would be Owen Lars' determination to keep Luke away from the few remaining Jedi even when he's in his late teens/ early twenties. Not everyone's father is Darth Vader of course, so Lars has an especial reason from keeping Luke away from Obi-Wan and Luke doesn't seem to show any early signs of having a high midichlorian count which would also seem to make him a-typical.
Further, Luke's desperation to get away and see some action most probably would not be typical of most toddlers of the age who had historically been taken away by the Jedi. What we see in this example though is Lars exercising parental protection and the younger the child the stronger that sense of protection in the parent figure. Add this to a lack of knowledge or trust of the Jedi in farther out planets and the Outer Rim where Coruscant is almost completely another world and you can imagine that surely the response to a visit of this kind by the Jedi must have been met by the response 'Sod off and don't come back'. And very possibly, 'And please don't put any more leaflets through our door either'.
In short, unless the Jedi sometimes practice coercive means of recruiting youngling Padawans, the answer must have been no more often than it was yes.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
