Whilst it is incredibly nice to have these Power of the Force Sandtroopers mounted on Dewbacks to represent the Tatooine patrol from A New Hope in search of the escaped droids, the slightest knock or bump seems to dislodge the Sandtrooper action figures from their mounts. If you try to get them to carry their blaster rifles over their shoulders, they have a habit of slipping off, and the lances don't always stay in their hands so well. In short I am constantly rearranging my Tatooine diaroma when one of my Sandtroopers has some sort of balancing malfunction.
The Power of the Force Dewback itself opens it's mouth and rears it's head when you move its tail. The shape of it, proportions etc. felt like a good representation of the creature and overall it started to enable some real flavour for our Tatooine scenery and dioramas back when it was released.

One really nice touch is that the Sandtrooper's backpack has a little slot where you can attach his blaster rifle so he can store it whilst riding and just carry the lance. It didn't work very well but it does anticipate the slot for a blaster which started to appear on the backpacks of Episode One Collection Battle Droids a few years later which worked much better. We might consider the Power of the Force Sandtrooper with Dewback part of the evolution of this feature. However, one reason for this seems to be that I've been using the wrong Sandtrooper heavy blaster rifles for this figure for quite a few years before I realised that they shipped with the same blaster rifle which came with the Imperial Sandtrooper from the Mos Eisley Cantina 3D Diorama playset. These blasters slot nicely in to the Sandtrooper's backback and are tucked nicely out of the way. (I'll add some photos soon.)
The reins for these Dewbacks are getting increasingly hard to find. In fact, I don't have the reins for any of my Dewbacks but looking at photos online they are a little bit on the long side and don't do much for the aesthetic of the beast and its rider.
There are three versions of this mounted Power of the Force Sandtrooper action figure so far as I'm able to tell: one clean Sandtrooper with a clean grey pauldron, one muddied-up Sandtrooper with a muddied-up grey pauldron, and one muddied up Sandtrooper with a clean ridged grey pauldron.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
