This action figure represents Anakin Skywalker at the end of The Phantom Menace dressed as a Padawan learner on Naboo and it is the only time we see him as a child dressed as a Jedi Padawan. I initially thought this was Anakin as he is dressed for Qui-Gon's funeral but after checking this turns out not to be the case.

This Anakin figure makes for a very nice little Padawan with really good detailing and paintwork on the boots and trousers especially. This Anakin really is a fair cut above the other representations of him from the Episode One Collection. In fact, he's best displayed without the cloak since this hides a lot of the good features of this action figure.

Although Anakin is still wearing his peasant's outfit at Qui-Gon's funeral, the Jedi robe which comes with this figure works well if you want to recreate the scene. Qui-Gon Jinn's funeral is a solumn affair which takes us back/forwards to the scene at the end of The Return of the Jedi when Luke burns Vader's body on a pyre and we see the ghosts of Anakin, Yoda and Obi-Wan shimmering in the background. Qui-Gon's funeral pyre as such demarcs the full circle of events between the first film in the first trilogy and the last film in the second Trilogy which are bookmarked between these two funeral scenes. It's quite neatly done when you think about it, taking us full circle between these two funeral pyres at key monents in Anakin's fate. Interestingly enough Anakin does seem to be represented by a fire sign in the Star Wars films so this is fairly appropriate. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
