Final Jedi Duel Playset - Power of the Force 1997 Star Wars Playsets...

Final Jedi Duel Playset Overview

Final Jedi Duel Playset from above Final Jedi Duel Playset Emperor and throne

Some Power of the Force sets blend the really fabulous with the really bad. The Final Jedi Duel Playset is no exception and give us a marvellous Emperor Palpatine and throne but a decidedly ropey rendition of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker duelling. As for the Darth Vader figure, it looks like Vader has been pumped full of steroids. Likewise the Bespin Carbon-Freezing Chamber Playset is brilliant but the Bespin Security Guard which comes with it is hideous.

The throne itself from the Final Jedi Duel Playset looks magnificent and is a believable copy of what we see in The Return of the Jedi. The only improvement I could have suggested would have been to have had a flat surface on the arm rests where a lightsaber hilt could have been placed, but since the set was released before Hasbro started experimenting with giving lightsaber hilts to their action figures this is perhaps wishful thinking. The Emperor's throne in The Return of the Jedi is very similar in appearance to the one in Palpatine's chambers in The Revenge of the Sith so it could feasibly also double up for Episode III scenes.

If you have some of the Death Star panels from the Electonic Force F/X Darth Vader and Ben Kenobi and also a couple of Kenner Emperor's Royal Guards you can really start to flesh this playset out.

I haven't yet included any photos which include the bay window of the throne room looking out onto the Battle over Endor as it gets in the way of the photo (and I don't as yet own the backdrop for the Final Jedi Duel Playset).

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
