The distinctive horizontal red stripes across the wings distinguish this 181st Squadron Elite Tie Interceptor from other models of the Tie Interceptor ship which have the plain wing design of the The Return of the Jedi models. Compared with vintage The Return of the Jedi era ships it still looks exceptionally good and is a great addition to any Imperial fleet.

One novel aspect of the 30th Anniversary Collection Elite Tie Interceptor is that painted on either side of the front of the cockpit is a body count of the number of X-Wing and Y-Wing Fighters that this ship's pilot has defeated in battle. This sort of non-standard customisation seems a very un-Imperial thing to do, albeit it reflects an Elite forces mentality. I'm reserving my judgement upon this particular feature, although it does detract a little from the overall sleekness that we associate with the Tie Interceptor as an Imperial stunt fighter.
It seems like there is some history of clone pilots exhibiting bravado in this way. The Clone Wars Series Republic Gunship is another fighter vehicle which has a body count painted on its side. This ship has three rows of bombs to represent each kill with a cartoon drawing of a Salicious Crumb-like creature (Kowakian monkey-lizard) dropping a bomb above them.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
