Whilst I accept that this was essentially a re-hash of the vintage Millennium Falcon with some new paint work and decals I also have a few gripes here. For one thing even with the pins to fix the smuggler's panel in place it still doesn't fit very well. Likewise, the old problem of the back legs becoming loose so that the ship won't stand up horizontally hadn't been improved upon and this can be very frustrating if you want to display figures either inside or outside the Falcon. Another niggle is the cockpit. This comes on and off but doesn't really open from the side like its predecessor, which is a real shame as this really was one of the hallmark features of the vintage Millennium Falcon. A little bit more design and engineering could have so easily been put into this to enhance the original Kenner design.
Find Power of the Force Millennium Falcon on eBay
On the upside I did pick up my Falcon near complete and boxed for an absolute song. It's just missing one ramp strut (this version doesn't look to have come with a training ball unless I'm missing something).
Update, I have now upgraded to the Legacy Collection Millennium Falcon which is a far superior iteration so my Power of the Force one is back in its box in storage.
Whilst the Power of the Force Millennium Falcon was essentially the same mould and carcass as it's Kenner predecessor there are quite a lot of subtle differences. Amongsts these are that the plastic has a grey tinge to it, rather than the creamy white of the Kenner Falcon. The ramp struts on the POTF Falcon are also almost black as opposed to the blue of the vintage one (this also goes for the chess table and gunner's seat). On the ramp of the POTF Falcon there are also two raised slats on the top which the Kenner Millennium Falcon didn't have. The cockpit glass on the two Falcons also had a distinctly different tint. There are many more ways to distinguish parts for the two Millennium Falcons but these are just a few off the top of my head.
Chewie just had time to stop and pose for this photo before getting on with the serious business of fixing the Falcon in preparation for the escape from Echo Base (along with the help of the Treadwell Droid of course).
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
