Search Star Wars Figures and Vehicles:

I'm missing the mouth piece for this Vintage Collection rendition of Darth Vader, but the lack of this piece calls attention to something quite unexpected about this action figure. Without the mouth piece you can see Vader's full face and we see that he has part of a remaining beard on the left side of his face and part of a mustache on the right side. This is something that we don't see in The Return of the Jedi. Moreover, this Vader has a more chiselled looking face than the rather watery and puffy looking one familiar from the film. In fact, this Darth Vader seems to be younger, middle aged and somewhere between the old man we know from Return of the Jedi as a shimmering spirit and the young Anakin who first goes under the mask. Perhaps this Vintage Collection rendition of the action figure could be considered a more accurate portrayal of what we might expect to find under the Sith Lord's mask bearing in mind that he would have been about 50 years of age in The Return of the Jedi rather than the 65-70 year old we see in the film.
