Dr. Ezavan (Cantina Patron) Action Figure: Overview

Dr Ezavan Figure front

This Vintage Collection action figure is just so wonderfully ugly. I love Dr Ezavan's little twisted nose. Previous iterations of Ezavan just didn't do the character justice, but this action figure is a long-awaited and deserving companion for Ponda Baba (Walrus Man) in the Mos Eisley Cantina.

Even the Original Trilogy 2004 version of Dr Ezavan looks far too like a zombie and would not look out of place in The Walking Dead. The only redeeming feature of this Ezavan is the rare straight bar stool section which comes with him. And prior to that we had the Power of the Force Dr Ezavan who's face resembled a demented hamster with rabies and who looked like he was about to do the Haka.

The Vintage Collection Ezavan action figure is near perfect though and his wide sleeves and scruffy appearance are totally in tune with the ambience of the 1970s Mos Eisley Cantina. You can actually believe that this guy has the death sentence on twelve systems. He even has a suggestion of chest hair, not something which you often see on a Star Wars figure unless you count Chewbacca.

One thing I particularly like about Dr. Ezavan is that in a room full of exotic aliens he manages to be a believable character and also a recognisable stereotype for that matter. Ezavan is essentially the pub bore who invades other people's personal space, interrupts their conversations and tells them all about himself uninvited. Regular visitors to the Cantina probably give him a wide berth.

Other Vintage Collection Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
