Grand Moff Tarkin (Death Star) Action Figure: Overview

The Power of the Force Grand Moff Tarkin action figure is fairly nicely proportioned and the facial likeness is also pretty good. In fact, Tarkin's face is arguably more accurate to A New Hope than the Death Star Briefing Tarkin figure which is far too angular and cartoon-like. The Death Star briefing action figure seems to represent Tarkin as an animated figure long before either the Clone Wars cartoon series or the CGI used for Tarkin in Rogue One. Perhaps it took its influence from the CGI at the end of The Revenge of the Sith and was preparing us for an animated Tarkin. Either way, the Power of the Force Grand Moff Tarkin figure succeeds in being much more life-like in terms of its facial features.

This said, some of the proportions of the Power of the Force Tarkin figure aren't great. He has boxing glove hands, his Imperial insignia is rather on the large side and the figure does have rather an unseemly gap in his crotch. Tarkin's collar is also much wider than his neck which unfortunately makes him look a bit like a turtle.

When this Grand Moff Tarkin figure was originally released Hasbro made quite a big deal of it and where we would usually see the figure's name on the front of the card back bubble there are instead the words 'Never before offered in any Kenner collection.'

Other Power of the Force Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
