The Kenner Imperial Attack Base is a playset which sets a scene which just doesn't happen in the movie. The Imperial troops land on Hoth and get right on with attacking Echo Base. They don't hang around digging trenches and setting up bases. More authentic to the movie would have been to give us Rebel defence trenches along with the Turret. There was admittedly a Hoth Turret and Probot playset (quite rare in the UK) but this was a little confused as it conflates two different scenes on Hoth. Like much of the Kenner range what the Imperial Attack Base Playset did was to require fans and collectors to use their imaginations, to build their own Star Wars worlds beyond the confines of the movies.

The corridor of the vintage Imperial Attack Base Playset is actually quite suited for the chase leading up the escape of the Millennium Falcon. You can have Darth Vader marching through it accompanied by Snow Troopers (Imperial Stormtrooper Hoth Battle Gear), and the Millennium Falcon parked at the edge with Chewie in the cockpit and Han and Leia rushing up the gangplank, or a variation thereof. This feels to me like a more imaginative and authentic use of this playset.

My Kenner Imperial Attack Base Playset is complete except for one of the two dark blue buttons / monitor boxes and the lever which goes with it and I also only have one of the roof peices which I recently picked up and isn't in the photos as yet.

Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
