Whilst I always liked the Kenner Jabba The Hutt Playset, I still can't help but question the wisdom of having the trapdoor under Jabba's throne in this playset which clearly renders it dysfunctional. It saves space, plastic and packaging doing it this way but I don't think anyone was ever very clear on what to do with the trapdoor or what to store inside it once they'd got their Jabba The Hutt Playset home. The addition of Salacious Crumb was a real bonus as was the inclusion of the bowl and hookah pipe. I don't think many kids resisted taking the opportunity to fill up Jabba's bowl with something green and slimy at some point.

The mould of the Jabba The Hutt figure from the playset I rather like. It was quite detailed for its day, although it's still far surpassed by the more recent Saga Series and Black Series Jabba figures. There was space on the throne for both C-3PO and Bib Fortuna so we could recreate scenes at Jabba's Palace, but unfortunately no Princess Leia as Jabba's slave at this stage so we couldn't really attach anything to the chained collar except an incongruous Princess Leia in Boussh disguise or even a Bespin or Hoth Leia perhaps.
I always really liked the Jabba the Hutt figure's eyes. They give him a degree of animation that was lacking in the other 3.75 inch scale vintage action figures. This was improved upon even more with the oval pupils and the depth of the eyes of the Power of the Force Jabba The Hutt and Han Solo.
I'm missing hookah pipe from my Jabba The Hutt Playset. Here the bowl (bottom and top) has been taken from the 2004 Saga Series Jabba the Hutt which luckily fitted quite well on to the Kenner throne base. I do have the complate bowl but I prefer the Sga Series one for display.
I only just got hold of the Princess Leia's slave collar for the Jabba the Hutt Playset. This came on a throne base which I'd picked up as part of a job lot. It was relatively easy to swop over the gargoyle and slave collar from the one throne and switch it over on to the playset base I use for display. The slave collar for the Kenner Jabba the Hutt Playset is too loose to fit around the neck of most modern Princess Leia in slave outfit figures, but it will (more or less) stay around the neck of the Vintage Collection Oola with a little bit of fiddling around.
The throne base of the playset shown in the photos is actually the one that I had as a child. The Jabba the Hutt and Salacious Crumb figures I picked up more recently.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
