After all the iconic battleships we'd known and cherished from the Original Trilogy the Naboo Starfighter was the first Starfighter that we had from the prequel trilogy and it just never really cut the mustard when compared to its predecessors. And, speaking of mustard, it was everyone's second favorite colour, yellow.
The Episode One Collection Anakin Skywalker Naboo Pilot action figure comes with an accessory which plugs in to the cockpit of the Naboo Star Fighter which gives you a console with triggers so you can replicate the scene in the Theed hangar bay in which Anakin is looking for the controls in order to shoot at the Destroyer Droids.

It looks sleek, cool and showy, rather like the sort of sports craft you'd expect to find in the hangar of a rich planet and maybe that was partly the problem in some sort of Harleys versus Vespas type of way. Rebel Alliance X-Wing Fighters looked like you needed to spend a lot of time under the bonnet getting oil and grease all over yourself and Imperial Tie Fighters screamed like banshees. By contrast, the Naboo Starfighter looks like it’s all about the design and like it probably runs off a clean energy source. There's no grit and steel to it.
In many ways I think this serves to make a point. In The Phantom Menace we have a galaxy that is more peaceful and affluent, and this allows us to see a descent into poverty, deterioration and war as the movies progress. This perhaps culminates with the state of affairs on Jakku at the start of The Force Awakens as Jakku’s residents are now forced to scavenge the desert for the rusty parts of antiquated space ships. It is a process that has already started in The Phantom Menace as the Naboo Royal Star Ship is reduced to squatting in the desert outside Mos Espa whilst the heroes are reduced to dealing with a junk dealer to replace the ship’s hyperdrive. (A New Hope probably represents a mid-point in this process if we take into consideration the state of the Millennium Falcon as a ‘pile of junk’ and the poor price that Luke gets for his Landspeeder.)
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
